The Young Elites

"Some hate us, think us outlaws to hang at the gallows. Some fear us, think demons to burn at stake. Some worship us, think us children of the gods."

-The Young Elites, Marie Lu

Lu has came back again with the beginning of another exciting triology!

The Young Elites takes place in a dystopian world; more precisely, in Kenettra of the Sealands where Adelina Amouteru is the star of the show. When Adelina was four years old, the blood fever swept through and infected many citizens including herself, her mother, and Violetta, her sister. But only a few survived this deadly disease leaving some scarred with unusual marks. They were known as "malfettos". Defected beings in the opinion of society, bringing shame. The Young Elites, a special type of "malfetto" possessed outworldly powers. The society hunts them, but some secretly worship them. Adelina's life changes completely when she discovers first-handed what the Young Elites can do.

The Young Elites is definately a must-read especially if you are into the genres sci-fi, fantasy, or dystopia! Fast-paced and definately like a tornado sucking you in, leaving you reading until the very end!

But just a warning, the ending may play with your emotions and leave you hungry for the next book, as it certainly did to me!
